I’m available to speak at conferences, sector events, network meetings, and staff development sessions, online or in person. I can give a presentation, join a panel, or lead a longer session with time for questions and discussion.
My talks draw on more than 20 years’ work in UK higher education, including casework, investigations, and panel hearings on reports of harassment, sexual misconduct, and hate. I aim to keep sessions grounded in current regulation and guidance, and in what these processes are like for the students and staff involved.
I was a member of the OIA steering group that helped develop its Good Practice Framework section on handling reports about harassment and sexual misconduct, published in September 2026.
Topics
- The OIA’s new guidance on harassment and sexual misconduct: what the Good Practice Framework section covers, what has changed, and what providers in England and Wales that belong to the OIA Scheme may want to review.
- Trauma-informed and procedurally just investigations: gathering evidence fairly for reporting and responding parties, and interviewing people who have experienced trauma.
- Decision-making at disciplinary panels: the role of panel members and chairs, weighing evidence, and giving reasons for outcomes.
- Freedom of speech and harassment reports between students: how providers in England can approach both sets of duties when triaging and investigating reports.
I can also shape a session around your event’s theme.
